What do I need to consider when hiring a Tipi or Sperry Tent?

Here at Frame & Tailor we understand that hiring a tipi or Sperry tent for your wedding or event can be a daunting task. We have put together the below guide to try and help with an questions or uncertainties you may have. If you have any further questions then we are here to help, just pop us an email or a call and we will be with you each and every step of the way.

  • Where is the best place to located our tipi or Sperry tent?
There are a few options here and we have had the pleasure of erecting tents in the most beautiful surroundings all over the UK. If you are lucky enough to have plenty of space in your garden, office space or a field then we can certainly create your dream event at home. There are venues all over the UK whom specialist in weddings, parties and events, we list some of our most popular venues on the Our Friends section of our website. If however you find a venue that’s not on our website that of course is no problem, we will meet you at the venue to double check everything fits and check all of the extra operational aspects to make sure your event runs as smoothly as possible. Local councils and farmers are always looking for ways to diversify and often a conversation with them may open up the opportunity to rent the land to erect your tipi or Sperry tent.

  • How do we get power to the tents?
Power obviously is an important part of any event, caterers, bars, bands and speeches will all need some form of electricity to power their equipment. There are two options when looking at power some sites, venues or houses will have enough power to supply the event, this is often the case if the venue is specifically set up for tent weddings or events. The other option would be via a generator which we can supply for you, when we provide a generator we ensure you have enough cabling for all of the important elements of your event and enough power supply to ensure everything is working and running smoothly.

  • Where will our caterer prepare the food?
The caterers will need a space to prepare all of the food for your guests, again where this happens depends on the particular site you choose. Some sites will have an in house kitchen or area for the food to be prepared before being taken to the tipi or Sperry tent. We can also provide one of our catering tents which joins seamlessly onto your tent via either a connecting tunnel in the case of Sperry tents or an awning if you are hiring one of our tipi tents. Our catering tents come with hard flooring to ensure all the kitchen equipment is level and ready for preparation and of course lighting to ensure there is enough visibility for your caterers to work their magic.

  • What flooring do you provide in the tipi or Sperry?

We use the same matting in both of our structures we opt to use PapaFlex® a polypropylene reusable matting that mimics the natural sisal characteristics of original matting. This is more lightweight and doesn’t rot like some coir matting can do over time. We can provide a hard wooden subfloor to provide a little more protection from the often unpredictable British weather, we still add our matting on top of this flooring or if required we can add a carpet in more or less any colour.
